Questions and answers

The cards

What is a Landing Card?

A credit-card-sized metal card (85.6 × 54 mm) of a real airfield. The runway layout is drawn from the airfield's true geometry and cut into metal, and every card is individually numbered. It arrives in a plain navy sleeve marked with the wordmark and the ICAO code.

Why isn't my airfield in the collection yet?

Cards are made a few airfields at a time. Search for your airfield in the collection and add it to your card wishlist: the most-wanted airfields are made first, and you'll hear when yours is ready if you've asked for card alerts.

How do I register a card I've bought?

Go to Register a card and enter the airfield code and the number engraved on your card. It's added to your collection as owned and registered.

What does delivery cost?

Shipping and any taxes are worked out at checkout, before you pay, once your address is entered.

Your airfields and passport

How do I mark an airfield as landed?

Find it on the map or search for it, open it and tap Landed. If you keep a logbook, airfields you fly to are marked as landed for you.

What's my pilot passport?

Your Passport tab: your rank, a stamp for every country you've landed in and a medal for every kind of airfield, from grass strips to airline hubs. It's private unless you choose to share it.

How do I share my passport?

Tap Share on your Passport, the Map, the Logbook or your Profile: they all open the same Share page. Pick what to show (Airfields, Cards, Wishlist, or your Logbook a year at a time), and switch on your link: it opens on your airfields, and visitors can switch views from there. Switch it off and the link stops working. You can also make an image to post, in any of the colour themes.

What are route lines?

If you keep a logbook, route lines draw each leg you've flown, from the departure to the arrival airfield, as an arc: thicker for legs flown more often. Turn them on or off on the map and in images you make. On your shared link they come with your logbook: the legs and the years, never dates, times or remarks.

The logbook

Do I have to use the logbook?

No. It's off until you start it from the Logbook tab, and the site works the same without it. Airfields you've ticked by hand always stay ticked.

Can I bring my flights in from LogTen or another logbook?

Yes. Export your flights from LogTen (or a spreadsheet) and import the file. You check every flight and confirm any places we don't recognise before anything is added, and importing the same file again skips what's already there. You can undo an import.

Can I import a paper logbook?

Yes: photograph each page. The rows are read for you, then you check and correct every one (anything hard to read is highlighted) before they're added. Photos aren't kept.

How do licences work?

Add your licences with their dates and the aircraft classes they cover. Flights then count towards them automatically, by priority, only when you pick, or not at all: your choice in Licences & aircraft. You can always tick or untick a licence on a single flight.

What are smart groups?

Saved filters for your flights: by date, aircraft, class, licence, capacity, place and more, with totals for each. Every logbook starts with three examples (Last 90 days, P1 and P2); change or delete them and they won't come back. Find them in Totals, and as quick views on the Flights tab.

What do flags and locks do?

Flag a flight with a note to come back to it; imports also flag flights whose times don't add up. Lock everything up to a date once it's checked: locked flights can't be changed by accident or by an import (they still count towards your licences), and unlocking one is recorded in its history.

I made a mistake. Can I go back?

Yes. A version of your logbook is saved before every import, bulk change and revert, and once a day you edit. The last 20 are kept (pin any to keep it for good), and you can compare any version with now and go back to it.

Does it work with no signal?

Yes, once you've opened the site with a connection. Flights you save with no signal are kept on your phone, shown as waiting to upload, and upload by themselves when you're back online.

Your data

Can I get my flights out?

Any time, from Export: a printable logbook (save it as a PDF), a spreadsheet, a file in LogTen's own format, or a full backup you can restore here.

Who can see my flights?

Only you, unless you share your logbook on your passport link (Share → Logbook). Visitors then see your totals, hours, airfields and route lines a year at a time, plus your busiest legs and aircraft only if you add them. Never dates, times of day or remarks.

How do I delete my account?

From your profile you can download everything we hold about you and delete your account, which removes your landings, logbook, wishlists, follows and card requests straight away. More in our privacy notice.
